The 77th Annual Meeting of the Denison Society

The 77th Annual Reunion of the Denison Society was held at the Denison Homestead on the weekend of August 3-5, 2007.

On Friday evening, August 3rd, we held a pleasant wine and cheese reception outside under the tent, while in each room of the Homestead costumed re-enactors portrayed the generations of Denisons who had resided there over the centuries.

Despite a disappointing attendance at the Annual Meeting on Saturday the 4th, the vote to approve the sale of the 28+ acres of land at the intersection of Mistuxet Avenue and Cove Road was passed. This was primarily due to a large affirmative vote that had been mailed in by proxy. It is now the job of the new Board elected at the Annual Meeting (see the list of Officers and Trustees) to begin planning sessions as to how this sale is to take place. All Officer and Committee reports from this meeting are listed below.

After a delicious luncheon, Richard Radune, the keynote speaker for the day, presented information about a new book he is writing on local Maritime History.

A church service at the Road Church, historic church of early Denisons, was held on Sunday morning, August 5th, to complete the weekend.
